Velvet Room
Welcome to the Velvet Room, a classy blue cocktail with curious floating gelatin bits that taste sweet and pack a kick. Watching them bob around in the blue sparkling wine can be a little hypnotic, you might even see a glimpse of your future.
The cocktail
- 1 shot vanilla vodka
- 1 shot blue curacao
- 1 tsp Blavod Jelly (recipe is below)
- Champagne or Sparkling wine (white is best to preserve the beautiful blue colour)
Pour the vanilla vodka and blue curacao into a champagne flute and add the Blavod Jelly. Top off the glass with champagne.
Blavod Jelly
- 1/2 cup Blavod Black Vodka (regular vodka will work too, but I like the colour contrast with the Black Vodka)
- 1/2 cup Grape juice
- 1 packet Knox gelatin
Heat the grape juice in a small saucepan and dissolve the gelatin in it. Once all the gelatin clumps are gone, remove the grape juice from the heat, and add the vodka. Pour the mixture into a bowl and allow to set up in the fridge. Usually an hour or so.
Once the gelatin is set, run chunks of the jello through a potato ricer, or mill in a food processer until fluffy. Set aside until you are ready to drink.
Enjoy!

Minecraft Dirt Block Jelly Shot
Total Time Required : 6 hrs to overnight
Ingredients
Dirt part A- 2 cups fresh brewed coffee (I used Tim Hortons, since I was recently in Canada)- 5 packages Knox gelatin- 1 cup vanilla vodka- 2/3 cup Kahlua- 1/3 cup espresso liqueur- 1 tbsp agave syrup
Dirt part B-1 cup water-2.5 packages Knox gelatin-1/2 cup kahlua-1/2 cup Irish cream-1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
Grass-I package Pistachio instant pudding mix-1 cup milk-2/3 cup vanilla vodka
Instructions
Start with Dirt Part A. Keep the coffee hot by gently warming it on the stove in a saucepan, then add the gelatin. Once the gelatin is completely dissolved, remove from the heat and allow to cool down a bit before adding the alcohols. Add the agave syrup (simple syrup will work for this recipe as well), then the booze. Once it’s all mixed together, chill it in a glass casserole dish for a couple hours until set.
Once Dirt Part A is ready, mash it up. I used a fork for this, but it’s not an exact science, so use whatever you’d like. Once it’s all mashed up, keep it in the casserole dish, but set aside while we work on Part B.
Heat the water on the stove until almost boiling, and then add the gelatin. Once the gelatin is dissolved, remove from the heat, add the sweetened condensed milk, and stir. Once the mixure looks nice and milky, add the alcohols, stir, then add it to your Dirt Part A. Stir the milky mixture into the coffee jelly, so it coats all the mashed up pieces, and smooth out the lumps as best as you can. Then return the whole thing to the fridge to chill again
Once the jelly is set again, prepare the grass! Nothing fancy here, just add the pudding mix to the milk and vodka in a bowl big enough to fit it all, and whisk to combine. Once it looks like thin pudding, go ahead and pour the pudding on top of the jelly shots and let it set one last time.
Once the pudding is all set, go ahead and cut up the jelly into bite-sized blocks and serve. I find it easier to get the blocks out of the pan using a pastry scraper, but I’m sure a knife would work just fine as well.
Enjoy!
